Hermès Opens Sixth Global Maison at 166 New Bond Street, London

  • June 17, 2026

Hermès has opened its sixth global Maison, and its fourth address in London, at 166 New Bond Street. Spanning nearly 2,000 square meters, the site integrates six historic buildings originally constructed in 1769. The five-story structure comprises fifty-five rooms, four staircases, three elevators, and roof terraces.

The architectural design, led by Parisian agency RDAI under Artistic Director Denis Montel, merges original historical detailing with contemporary elements. The atrium, redesigned by Foster + Partners, features a newly raised steel-and-glass roof and a spiral limestone and glass staircase finished with a handmade calfskin handrail. The building’s south wall utilizes classic Manchester bricks cast in mirrored glass. Overseen by Hermès Artistic Director Pierre-Alexis Dumas, the Maison houses over five hundred curated artworks, including a bespoke horse sculpture by British artist Jessica Wetherly.

The interior space is meticulously organized to present the house’s multiple métiers. Accessed via a seven-meter-high facade, the ground floor entrance features the signature ex-libris flooring and vaulted ceilings. This level hosts the silk universe, alongside the beauty, perfumes, and fashion jewelry departments, which are set within an imaginary orangerie featuring wall illustrations by London-based artist Katie Scott. Ascending to the first floor reveals a sequence of twenty interconnected rooms. Leather goods are displayed in red-hued spaces, leading to the home collections set on hexagonal oak parquet. The central equestrian department features boiserie in straw and horsehair marquetry, while six intimate rooms along the facade, detailed with Sienna marble and bespoke cloth wallcoverings, are dedicated to watches and jewelry.

On the second floor, the women’s shoe and ready-to-wear areas utilize powder pink mineral mortar, original nineteenth-century mosaic floors, and hand-tufted rugs. The men’s universe features reclaimed oak floors and Victorian-era deep blue textured coverings from Lancashire. This floor also includes a dedicated seating area for tea and coffee. The third floor serves as an active workspace where Hermès leather artisans maintain the house’s artisanal model through the creation, repair, and preservation of leather objects. Finally, the private fourth floor is dedicated to the Émile Hermès Collection, evoking the original 24, faubourg Saint-Honoré address, complete with rooftop lounges, two contiguous gardens, and the Artificier flag-bearing horseman statue.

To mark the opening, Hermès introduced exclusive items, including a leather-handled stainless steel gardening set, an A Walk in the Garden tea trunk, and a customized Hac à Dos backpack. The storefront windows feature The Rocabarn, a crochet, knit, and embroidery installation by English artist Kate Jenkins, depicting an imaginary equestrian grooming parlor.

The establishment of Maison Bond Street aligns with Hermès’ long-term strategy, emphasizing a creative, artisanal, sustainable, and multilocal operational model.
